It typically fruits from late summer to early winter, favoring the region’s cool, moist climate.

Morphology & Key Features:

  • Cap StructureConical to bell-shaped, ranging from brown to yellow-brown with a sticky surface when fresh. A hallmark trait of the species. The cap diameter typically ranges from 0.5–2 cm and often displays translucent striations when moist.
  • Gills & Spore Development – The gills are closely spaced and attached, transitioning from grayish to dark brownas spores mature. The species produces a purplish-brown spore print.
  • Slender Stem – The stem reaches 3–10 cm in length and 0.1–0.3 cm in width. Exhibiting a yellowish to brown coloration and occasionally bruising bluish or greenish when handled.
  • Mildly Potent Psilocybe – Like other members of the genus, P. pelliculosa contains psilocybin. It has been noted for its moderate psychoactive properties in natural settings.
