Strain origin – This variety is steeped in awkward history from its very beginning. Found in Jamaica on a horse farm, this unique variety had what appeared to be pure golden/yellow spores. Hence the name “Golden Halo”.

The founder had kept this to a pretty tight circle, refusing to give up this precious golden spored mushroom. At one point Golden Halo spores were being sold for $10,000.00 per spore print!!! Being so rare and unknown it seemed to be taken advantage of for years. In 2020 Bas with the help of ITW and company released a few hundred spores at standard price and released this gem to the greater collector crowd. Golden Halo was even featured on the Willy Myco Show on patreon. With this new release, Golden Halo has solidified its place amongst legendary strains and will never be lost to history. 

• Gill formation – Gills typically are medium to large, wide range of formation. Likely to have available gills for spore production.
• Microscopy features – Golden/ yellow/ rust spores.  Spores measure 7 x 12 micrometers. This variety Golden Halo discharges spores during sporulation. Spores can be printed to be observed under magnification. Microscopes and magnification equipment are recommended for viewing microscopic features. Like all cubensis spores the golden halo spores are translucent and contain a pigment. Although they can produce a golden color at times the produce more rust with orange tones. This con be manipulated easily as the heavier the spore load on a print the darker they appear.
