Mushroom Spore swabs are sterile cotton swabs that contain spores for microscopy use only.
Strain origin – Penis Envy has a massive reputation as one of the first and original unique mutations of Psilocybe cubensis. Penis Envy was isolated from a Amazonian strain of cubensis over the course of 25+ years by a mycologist simply known as a Rich Gee. The tales of the origins about Penis Envy are quite ridiculous and outrageous at times. A few years back Rich was interviewed by Hamilton Morris from “Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia” psychedelic and entheogen show. In this interview Gee outlined the origins in detail to clear up some very wrong tales going around. Not for attention but to set the record straight. He obtained amazon spores from a friend who got them from the famous Terrence McKenna. From his cultivations he found a odd mutation of fruits and began to isolate these traits. When he visited a strip club, he apparently showed some stripers a bag of his mushrooms and they began to make comments about their phallic shapes, he responded with “do you have penis envy?” and the name stuck. Gill formation – Gills typically are small inset, minimal formation and opening. Gills are often sterile and contain no spores. This is Common for penis envy varieties.
Microscopy features – Purplish brown spores. Spore messure 7 x 12 micrometers. This variety penis envy does not discharge spores. Spores need to be taken manually with a sterile swab to be observed. Germination of spores will often be observed having clamp connections and fine feathered mycelium. Microscopes and magnification equipment is recommended for viewing microscopic features.
Rare varieties of psilocybe cubensis will be retired in the Genetic Vault. Check out the Vault for more unique collectable varieties! Affiliated mycology businesses that offer lab equipment and tools visit basmycology.com & lexiconsci.com
