Blue Meanie – Spore print

Mushroom Spore swabs are sterile cotton swabs that contain spores for microscopy use only. Spore prints are mushroom spores collected to foil, glass and preserved for genetic collections. 

Strain origin – Blue Meanie mushrooms were first discovered in Australia, where they are believed to have originated from a strain of Psilocybe cubensis. The name “Blue Meanie” was popularized in the 1970s by the Beatles movie “Yellow Submarine,” in which the Blue Meanies were depicted as villains. Since then, the name has been used to refer to a variety of different strains of blue-colored mushrooms.

1. Gill formation – Gills typically are medium to large, wide range of formation. Likely to have available gills for spore production.
2. Microscopic features – Purplish brown spores.  Spores measure 7 x 12 micrometers. This variety Amazon cubensis discharges spores during sporulation. Spores can be printed to be observed under magnification. Germination of spores will often be observed having clamp connections and fine feathered mycelium. Microscopes and magnification equipment are recommended for viewing microscopic features
