Mushroom Spore swabs are sterile cotton swabs that contain spores for microscopy use only. Spore prints are mushroom spores collected to foil, glass and preserved for genetic collections.

Strain origin – African Transkei is one of the select few rare strains that are domestic to the continent of Africa. Africa is not known for its density of entheogenic mushrooms, in fact there is much curiosity in the mushroom crowd as to whether there are many unknown species that have been left completely undiscovered. Transkei is a standard pigmented mushroom with nice light colorations. This variety has not been a crowd favorite thus it remains somewhat wild. Transkei, officially the Republic of Transkei, was an unrecognised state in the southeastern region of South Africa from 1976 to 1994. Now part of southeast Cape. African Transkeii spores were taken back to North America in the mid 80’s and have been to date somewhat illusive.

Gill formation – Gills typically are medium to large, wide range of formation. Likely to have available gills for spore production.
Microscopy features – Purplish brown spores.  Spores measure 7 x 12 micrometers. This variety African Transkei cubensis discharges spores during sporulation. Spores can be printed to be observed under magnification. Germination of spores will often be observed having clamp connections and fine feathered mycelium. Microscopes and magnification equipment are recommended for viewing microscopic features.

Rare varieties of psilocybe cubensis will be retired in the Genetic Vault. Check out the Vault for more unique collectable varieties! Affiliated mycology businesses that offer lab equipment and tools visit basmycology.com & lexiconsci.com
